We have all been aware of several terrible natural disasters in KY recently.  It can take time for government and private agencies to respond.  At the request of several CLC Members with years of emergency services experience, the Board formed a Safety Committee.

The objective is to provide information to our Members prepare for an emergency.  That includes being prepared and having plans for helping each other.
This web page contains a lot of information you can use to protect your family and property in an emergency.  We suggest you take a look and download what you need BEFORE you need it.  The page will be updated and eventually contain  detailed plans so stop back often and feel free to contribute to it through webmaster@ourcrystallake.org

This is a volunteer activity and not a replacement for local government and agency support.  Remember, YOU are YOUR own first line of defense.

PREPARE:

Go Bag:  (Under development.  Come back for examples)

Personal Emergency Binder:

A water resistant family emergency binder with water resistant sleeves should be part of your disaster preparedness plan because it's the best way to keep all of your important documents together and easy to transport.  Family emergency binders are especially helpful in cases where you may not be able to return to your home right away.

Here is a short list of some items you can add to an emergency binder of course you can customize yours to your family.  Your additional ideas are welcome.

FOOD and WATER:

Emergency food:

There are multiple natural sources of water including in the neighbor hood in including wells and the lake.  Stay tuned for more information.

Water:

How much food and water you have is up to you, the size of your family, available storage area, how long you expect to need it, and how much you’re willing to invest.  Sheltering in place may have different needs than escaping to the family farm.  Many experts think that 30 days is enough.  .

These links will give you some suggestions.  Remember that your local grocery store is a good source of canned and other supplies.  There are many planning and supply resources that can help.  Don’t forget the can opener and don’t forget your pets.

Don't forget to stock up on deodorant, soap, hand sanitizer, extra medication if you can get it, herbs and vitamins, spices, things like that, toilet paper, paper towels, and hazmat bags, regular trash bags.  Stop and think about what you needed during covid.

If you have an appliance containing cold or frozen food that may spoil, the Clubhouse will be a central location which may have refrigeration or support community meals.
